In a recent comparison of the Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE and Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, experts noted that the Versys offers a comfortable ride for long hours, while the Tracer is celebrated for its sport touring capabilities. Both bikes cater to different riding styles and preferences, making the choice reliant on what a rider values most in a motorcycle.
The Tracer sitting in my driveway wouldn't remain stationary for long.
While it has some resemblance to a sport adventure bike, such as Triumph's Tiger Sport 660, the Tracer 9 GT+ stands out as a true sport tourer. We took it on a few sporty adventures to fully appreciate its capabilities. Initially, I felt a bit daunted when Gerrad delivered the Tracer, recalling my experiences with the Tenere 700 from last year that I found challenging due to its height. However, I quickly realized my concerns were unfounded. With adjustable seat height, bar reach, and footpeg positioning, at 5'8", I found it easy to plant my feet securely and feel comfortable.
I took the Tracer 9 for a spin around town, using it for commuting and leisurely rides into the countryside to familiarize myself with its features and handling. By the time Lyle and I set off on our road trip, I felt ready for extended miles in the saddle. After the trip, I couldn't help but adore the Tracer. Unlike some motorcycles which sit unused post-review, the Tracer had an irresistible draw. The true testament to any motorcycle's appeal lies in how often a journalist chooses to ride it even after the review process is complete.
I had to ride the Tracer 9 GT+ again; once was hardly enough. I truly loved it.
