To choose the perfect propeller, match the manufacturers wide open throttle (WOT) range to the propeller. When looking at the propeller pitch, you want to ensure it keeps the engine RPM within the accepted range, to maximize the boats performance.
It also depends on the type of boating you want to do, eg if you want the skiers to get out of the water as fast as possible, then you want a lower pitch to increase the hole shot speed.
Whilst a higher pitched prop will allow the boat to move faster with each rotation. When you tune the progressive pitch angle, you can minimize slip and improve your fuel economy. The curved lip of a propeller helps it get the best "bite" on the water, helping to reduce slipping and ventilation issues, whilst ensuring faster acceleration.
For boat racing, you'll want the leading edge to be round, and the trailing edge to be cut straight. The perfect propeller will stop your engine from over-revving whilst still allowing you to maximize RPM.
When using a cupped prop you will usually generate a higher top end speed. You should also consider the rake of the propeller.
There may be some natural cavitation in many propellers, but excessive cavitation can result in excess vibration and physical damage to the propeller blade surface due to bubbles collapsing on the blade, and so should be avoided. Cavitation can be caused by damage to the blade edge, incorrect pitch, incorrect propeller style, and running gear too close to the propeller.
Ventilation is also something to watch out for. where the exhaust gasses are pulled into the propeller blades, causing the RPMs to increase and the boat to lose speed.
You may choose to carry a replacement propeller on board for those "just in case" moments.

The T200 Thruster uses our patented underwater thruster design consisting of a fully-flooded brushless motor with encapsulated motor windings and stator as well as coated magnets and rotor. The thruster body and propeller are made from tough polycarbonate plastic and the only exposed metal components are made from marine grade 316 stainless steel.
The fully-flooded design is unique compared to thrusters existing before the T200. It allows the motor to be water-cooled and the plastic bushings to be water-lubricated. It eliminates the need for shaft seals, magnetic couplings, and air- or oil-filled compartments, making the thruster naturally pressure tolerant. The design is compact and has a minimal number of parts so that we can offer it at an affordable price.
The core motor design is a three-phase brushless outrunner motor, similar to what you’d see on drones and RC airplanes, but optimized for underwater use. A sensorless brushless electronic speed controller (ESC) like our Basic ESC is required to run the thruster in all situations. It’s optimized to run at a voltage of 16v (such as a 4s lithium-ion battery pack), but can run at a range of voltages.
