What is Polyester Monofilament Yarn?
Polyester monofilament yarn offers high strength, excellent elasticity, good wear resistance, and light resistance. However, it has low moisture absorption and poor dyeing properties. During processing, polyester must be dried for 4 hours and cooled in water at temperatures between 60 and 70 degrees Celsius. While polyester is tougher than nylon, it is not as flexible or resilient.
There are various types of polyester monofilament yarn, including flame retardant, triangular-shaped, flat, high shrinkage, hollow, cationic, full extinction, and UV protection PET monofilament yarns.

Polyester monofilament yarn is classified into two main categories based on its uses: industrial and everyday applications. In industrial settings, it is primarily used in conveyor belts, woven filter nets, rubber line casings, and more. In everyday uses, it is applied in bags, webbing, zippers, straw hats, curtains, and bridal dresses.
Polyester monofilament yarn is available in various specifications such as 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, and 60D. Of these, the 30D variant is a high value-added specialty fiber used as a key raw material in shoe and luggage production, as well as stage costumes. The market potential for this yarn is substantial.
To identify polyester filament, observe its behavior when exposed to flame. It tends to soften, melt, and shrink. When ignited, it burns slowly with a yellow flame, emitting blue edges and producing black smoke. The material may continue to burn or extinguish itself, with a flavor reminiscent of aromatics or sweetness. After burning, it forms hard, black beads that are difficult to crush with fingers.
